My objective for this assignment was to design and craft a number of pages that displayed this typeface’s sense of class and uniqueness. Goudy Old Style is a humanist typeface, created in 1915 by Frederic W. Goudy. This particular typeface caught my eye when I saw some of its unique characteristics. For example, I had never seen diamond-shaped dots for punctuation and on the letters i and j before seeing Goudy. In addition, it has great legibility, which I value.
Process
This project’s process included experimenting with different layouts, column widths, and color schemes. Organization was key, as I had to make sure the information was grouped well so the booklet would flow from start to finish. I ended up using a basic color scheme to let the typeface shine. I chose midnight blue as the main color as it is associated with confidence, power, and authority.
